Treo 700w

O2 Xda Atom Pocket PC

Check it out: we got our hands on the new Windows Mobile-powered Treo, but it ain’t called the Treo 670 anymore (if it even ever was called that), it’s the Treo 700w (which implies—but doesn’t guarantee—the existence of a Palm-powered Treo 700p). We haven’t spent enough time with the 700w for a proper review — we’ve literally had it in our hands for only a few hours — but we couldn’t resist posting up this first look:

A few confirmed specs: Windows Mobile 5.0, one megapixel camera, EV-DO, Bluetooth, 64MB of memory, still trying to conclusively determine the resolution of the display, but it looks to our eyes like it’s 240 x 240 pixels, not 320 x 320. But we’re not 100% on that, ok?

WHEN THEY GONNA REMOVE THAT ANNOYING ATTENNA!!!

Motorola Q

O2 Xda Atom Pocket PC

The Q's main claim to fame is that it is 50% thinner than any other similar device on the market. Below you will find some photos of the Q next to a RIM Blackberry device that show you that Motorola isn't just blowing smoke. The Q really is that thin. In spite of that, the device still manages to sport a 1.3 megapixel camera and a miniSD memory card slot, and has a keyboard that offers a feel similar to that of the Treo 650.

The Q's display is quite beautiful, and looks great from a wide viewing angle. Its reflective backing should makes it easily readable in direct sunlight, something that is a must for business users. Bluetooth support is also built-in, allowing the use of Bluetooth headsets with the device - and potentially other services, depending on the carrier. While Motorola has not yet announced what networks and frequency bands the Q will support, since that will depend on carrier demand, a Motorola representative did say that the device should be good for about 4 hours of talk time and 8 days of standby time.

Ron Garriques, president of Motorola Mobile Devices, said that, conservatively, the Q should be available in Q1 of 2006, but that he hoped to have the device on the market during Q4 of this year. No information on pricing or market availability was released.

We'll post more details as they become available.

You'll find more live photos of the Motorola Q on the following page.

Samsung’s SGH-D307

O2 Xda Atom Pocket PC

We’re kind of over our period of mourning for the Motorola MPx by now, but if you’re still wishing and hoping for some of that flip n’ fold goodness and aren’t too attached to the idea of getting a Windows Mobile smartphone, it might interest you to know we spotted Samsung’s SGH-D307 with Cingular branding the other night here at CTIA. Just to jog your memory, it’s a quad-band number with EDGE and Bluetooth (unlike its tri-band GPRS big brother, the D550). While not the thinnest or the lightest, it’s still sure to turn a few heads for the upper-lower-mid-range qwerty communicator device, especially since its competition Stateside right now is probably going to be the LG9200.

Man, eight hundred bucks seems like a crazy ridiculous price to pay for a Pocket PC Phone that isn’t the HTC Universal, but CNET Asia reports that O2’s new XDA Atom is all set to retail for just north of $800 in Singapore (and elsewhere in Asia). That said, it is pretty nicely spec’d out for a smaller Pocket PC Phone, this bad boy is a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE handset that runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and has a 416MHz processor, a 262,000 color, 320 x 240 pixel LCD touch screen, Bluetooth (they don’t specify which kind, but prob. 1.1 or 1.2), a two megapixel digital camera, WiFi, a built-in FM tuner (a rarity in Windows Mobile devices), 64MB of RAM, and 128MB of ROM. Should be out in early December.

o2 Xda Atom : Smaller and more features than Xda Mini!
Yup, they're at it again! In the next few months, O2 looks set to release another new addition to the Xda family, the O2 Xda Atom. As the name suggests, it is small! In fact smaller than its predecessor the O2 Xda II Mini. However despite the size difference, its bigger on features. Onboard WiFi connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera, integrated FM radio and new OS Windows Mobile 5.0 will come standard on this little gadget. The extra boost to 128MB of flash ROM (from 64MB on the Mini) will also mean that you'll have more memory for your power hungry apps.

It'll be interesting to see how the O2 Xda Atom will compare against the Imate K-Jam/HTC Magician. Hope to post up some comparison results once they become available.

Features of the O2 XDA Atom:
- Windows Mobile 5.0
- Windows Media Player 10
- Integrated FM Radio
- Onboard WiFi (802.11b)
- 2-megapixel digital camera (CMOS)
- Quadband mobile phone
- Video recording and playback
- It's smaller than the O2 XDA II Mini!

Specifications of the O2 XDA Atom:
- Dimensions: 102 x 58 x 18.5 mm
- Weight: 150g
- Bluetooth
- Display resolution: 320 x 240 pixels
- 64MB RAM
- 128MB ROM
- Intel Processor: 416MHz
