Injecting Superuser and Busybox via ODIN

2. Run Desktop ODIN and select the kernel "speedmod-kernel-n7000-k1-5-Odin.tar" as image below

3. Click [Start].
4. Sit back and relax.

Note:
-DO NOT Re-partition. This process will replace your Galaxy Note kernel only.
-This is for Android phone who are not yet ROOTED. For rooted user you may download this. SpeedMod K1-5 for CWM

What do you get after this process?
SpeedMod's core features are:
- Super stable: No undervolting, overclocking or potentially unstable modifications
- Fast and smooth: Compiler and code optimizations
- Excellent battery life: Remove unecessary logging and debugging

Root and CWM:
- Automatically installs root (su)
- CWM recovery

(This is what most of the people want. ROOT)

Screen and misc tweaks:
- MDNIE screen sharpness tuning (improves text readability)
- MDNIE color tuning (reduces over-saturation of color)
- init.d, TUN, CIFS, IPV6 Privacy support

Performance:
- CPU governor tweaks: increase responsiveness
- IO tweaks
- Read ahead tweaks
- Updated to jhash3
- Compiled with optimizations using Linaro GCC 4.5 toolchain
- Switched to SLAB instead of SLUB
- GPU base speed increased to 200MHz from 160MHz
- Optimized CPU hotplug
- SCHED_MC multi-core aware scheduler

Turned off unnecessary logging for better smoothness and efficiency:
- Disabled Android Debug Logger / logcat
- Disabled Samsung debug
- Disabled various kernel debugging, statistics and tracing options

Warning! Counter and Triangle will be displayed after reboot. You might need this TraingleAway
This YELLOW TRIANGLE will be displayed when you boot-up your phone. If this bother you, DO NOT flash it.

You may try a few days with speedmod kernel and if you did not like it, just flash stock to remove triangle and counter on start-up. Click here

    1. You can flash in any firmware but if you bother about warranty and when you boot up you will see a yellow triangle. DO NOT flash it.

Use the safest way where you need to downgrade (zergrush) and upgrade via mobile odin (by CF-Root).

  2. Hi JJ - If don't mind, I'd like to question u abt this matters. I'm new about this matter, and my SGN is not rooted yet (no ODIN as well - fresh from the oven), kernel: 2.6.35.7-N7000DXLA1-CL86914 dpi@DEL170#2, build No#: GB.DXLA1.
    a. What's the pre-requisite program that I should install? What's the pre-requisite software (s/w) that I should install for the safety sake?
    b. If I read abt rooting, I need to download the Software(s/w) according to the build No, e.g. mine is DXLA1, it means that I should download LA1.
Is this speedmode applicable to any build No# e.g. LA1?
    c. If I upgrade to this speedMode, will all my data be gone or will built-in software (S-Memo, S-Planner, etc) from Samsung also be gone?
    d. What's the traingleAway? Is it dangerous? Will I counter directly once I install it?

Thanks a lot JJ - I'm sorry to many question in my hand to be asked.

    Kindly ask your thought.

    1. a. What's the pre-requisite program that I should install? What's the pre-requisite software (s/w) that I should install for the safety sake?

ANS: To install it you just need desktop ODIN. Set your phone in download mode. USB connected. If ODIN did not display PORT number, you need to install ADB driver. Look at my Download Area.

      b. If I read abt rooting, I need to download the Software(s/w) according to the build No, e.g. mine is DXLA1, it means that I should download LA1.
Is this speedmode applicable to any build No# e.g. LA1?

ANS: Kernel can be in any firmware. This is special kernel because it has busybox+cwm inside.

CF-Root. Yes. You need to find same version LA1.

      c. If I upgrade to this speedMode, will all my data be gone or will built-in software (S-Memo, S-Planner, etc) from Samsung also be gone?

ANS: Kernel upgrade will not affect your applications. Kernel is like hardware drivers for windows.

      d. What's the traingleAway? Is it dangerous? Will I counter directly once I install it?
ANS: Triangle away is related to WARRANTY or firmware upgrade counter. If it's bother you DO NOT flash it. You will see YELLOW TRIANGLE after you restart your phone.

My advice please use how to root safest way (zergrush) and then upgrade via mobile odin (CF-Root)

Hi JJ - Thanks a lot for the feedback. It's helpful much. Okay, so it's bettet to root first using zergrush, noted. Btw, for rooting using zergrush, does zergrush applicable to DXLA1?

    3. Zergrush applicable for KL3 downwards only..

KL7 and above you CAN'T use zergrush.

KL7 and above need to use Mobile Odin and flash related CF-Root kernel.

Hi JJ - Thanks a lot for your kind feedback. Okay, reading from your postings and other forum. What I need to do are:
      a. Downgrade to CF-Rooted KL3
      b. Upgrade to CF-Rooted LA1

Like what you've explained at here:
      http://jjpda.blogspot.com/2011/12/how-to-rootcwm-n7000xxkl3.html

IF you don't mind, I'd like to questions as follow:
      a. At this moment, I'm in DXLA1, will it be problem if I downgrade to CF Root KL3 (CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.zip).
      b. If I choose not like in my current ROM (LA1), but for e.g. I choose CF-ROOT for LA4 (CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LA4-v5.0-CWM5.zip).
      Will there by any problem?
      c. If I've already used CF-ROOT LA1 or LA4, will I still get the functionality from Samsung e.g. S-Pen, S-Planner, etc.

Thanks JJ n have a good day - Look forward your help about this.

    5. Root+CWM firmware will not remove any apps. All apps remain the same.

Once you are rooted, you may load any latest CF-Root kernel to flash via mobile odin.

Now already XXLC1. Check out CF-Root if it's avail.

  3. Thanks for sharing this !!!
My SGN is N7000OLBKL2, reading from xda-developers forum, it required to down grade the ROM.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997

    Which is troublesome to me.
Therefore, I refer to this blog. Root my SGN easily..
    Cheers.
